  1. Hollywood film star, Gloria Grahame, was the star of the recent film ‘Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool’, when taken ill, she requested to live in Liverpool with former lover, Peter Turner. They lived in Aigburth and she stayed there until a few days before her death when her family took her back to New York.

Sudley House, built in the 19th century, was the home of Nicholas Robinson, a Mayor of Liverpool and successful Corn Merchant. It is now a museum where guests can see the art collection from George Holt, a keen art collector and former resident of the house.

Schools

With a small student intake, Sudley Infant School is a popular choice for parents to send their young children. It also offers a Junior School, based on Aigburth Road.  

St. Margaret’s Church of England Academy based on Aigburth Road is considered to be one of the best schools in the area. Exclusively for young men, the secondary school has recently been voted as ‘outstanding’ in the Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools Report.

Located in the beautiful Sefton Park, St. Hilda’s Church of England High School is the only co-educational Church of England high school in Liverpool, making it a popular choice for families across the city. In GCSE, the school is above the national average in Mathematics, English Language and English Literature, with over half the students gaining at least 1 A* or A grade at GCSE.

Hidden away from the busy Aigburth Road is the beautiful IM Marsh Campus, part of the Liverpool John Moores University Campus and home to the School of Education, Leisure and Sport Studies and the School of Teacher Education and Professional Learning.
