North West’s Largest Independent Estate Agent

A Victorian treasure located at the very top point of the Wirral Peninsula, with stunning views across the River Mersey and outward to the Irish Sea.

From humble beginnings as a small town, the investment and development of lavish homes and leisure complexes in the mid-19th century launched New Brighton’s golden years when Hollywood film stars attended glitzy events and the sandy beaches, bustling promenade and entertainment attracted the families of nearby Liverpool and Wales.

Although New Brighton may have lost its grandeur, the echoes of its prosperous past can still be heard through the memories of those who spent many summers there as a child. It is with New Brighton’s space in the hearts of many locals that ensures it will remain a popular destination for British holidaymakers for the years to come.

Five Quick Facts

1 New Brighton is the UK’s longest promenade, with just over 2 miles of space. 2 The green dome of St. Peter and Paul’s Roman Catholic Church has the nickname ‘the dome from home’ as it was a recognisable sight for returning sailors. 3 New Brighton was home to Britain's first ever amusement arcade. 4 Its name comes from Brighton in Sussex. James Atherton, who purchased land there had visions of it being a place where the rich and successful could live and socialise, just like its southern counterpart. 5 The Tower Ballroom underneath the New Brighton Tower was one of the major music venues of the North West. The Beatles performed there 27 times.

Things To Do

With stunning views across to the city of Liverpool’s sophisticated skyline, New Brighton’s beach can have a very cosmopolitan feel to it on a sunny day. The three-quarter mile of sandy beach is the perfect place to take a stroll to enjoy the fresh air and views of Liverpool, without the hustle and bustle that the city brings.

Located on the beach is the Black Pearl shipwreck, a structure that a local artist made from driftwood along the River Mersey. Although it may not contain any lost treasures or skeletons, it is a fantastic place to bring alive the imaginations of little ones, who become kings and queens of the seas as soon as they step onboard.

The Perch Rock Lighthouse, that sits on the very tip of the North East of the Wirral, may no longer be needed to guide sailors home from sea. However, it still stands strong after one-hundred-and-eighty-eight years and is a true landmark of the Wirral. Just behind the lighthouse is Fort Perch Rock, built to protect the port of Liverpool. Although currently closed to the public, it usually houses a museum dedicated to aviation and maritime history, honing in on the fort’s defensive past.
